Lighting the Way

I was doing some career and graduate school related research and came across this post discussing some of the concerns facing those pursuing or thinking about pursuing a law degree. I thought this was a beautiful way of describing what it’s like to have a dream, the kind of dream that drives us to pursue great things. Having that kind of dream can really help give life shape and direction.

Whenever I talk to a career counselor from a school career center, they always ask me if I’ve taken one of those interest tests that are supposed to tell you what kinds of jobs you’re most suited for. It’s not always easy for people to figure out exactly what it is they want or even like. But I like what the writer said—that you should ask yourself, what is it that I can’t stop thinking about everyday? What have I always thought it would be cool to be? What really fills me with excitement and lights up my day? So maybe it doesn’t give us all the answers, but it’s a really great place to start.
